Best Tesla Tech Upgrades

Dashcams, HUDs, ambient lighting, and interior wraps that complement Tesla's already impressive tech stack. These are the additions that genuinely improve the driving experience.

1

BlackVue DR900X-2CH 4K Dashcam

Best Dashcam$349–$449

The gold standard dashcam for Tesla owners. 4K front camera, 1080p rear, built-in cloud connectivity so you can pull footage remotely via the BlackVue app. Parking mode records on motion detection even when parked. Much better image quality and reliability than budget cams. Tesla Sentry Mode is good, but the BlackVue gives you actual 4K video that holds up in insurance claims.

HUD Head-Up Display

Safety Upgrade$59–$129

Projects speed, navigation arrows, RPM, and driver alerts onto your windshield at eye level. OBD2 or Bluetooth connection depending on the model. Tesla's screen sits in the center — the HUD puts the info you need most (speed, nav) right in front of you where your eyes already are. Reduces the habit of glancing right for speed. Look for units with auto-brightness and a clear combiner lens.

64-Color Ambient Light Kit

$35–$65

LED strip kit for Tesla footwells, under-dash, and door panels. 64 colors, app-controlled via Bluetooth, can sync to music. Transforms the cabin at night. Much more dramatic than you'd expect — especially in pitch-black highway driving. Look for kits with silicone diffusion strips (not exposed LED beads) for an even, premium glow.

Center Console Wrap — Matte/Carbon

$22–$45

Textured vinyl film pre-cut for Tesla's center console, media control strip, and trim panels. Matte black and carbon fiber weave patterns are the most popular. Air-bubble-free adhesive, removable without leaving residue. Transforms the piano-black finish (which is a fingerprint magnet) into something that actually looks intentional and holds up to daily use.

Dashboard Wrap Film Kit

$45–$89

Pre-cut matte vinyl wrap for the full dashboard panel, A-pillars, and steering column trim. Eliminates the glossy plastic look and replaces it with matte or textured carbon. Significant interior upgrade for under $100 if you're comfortable with DIY film installation. Watch one install video before you start — it's straightforward but requires clean hands and a heat gun.
